Client Evaluations
I truly bought this from a further retailer (sorry Amazon, I enjoy you!) and I am Very pleased with the performance of this camera. I in fact have mounted mine outside the residence working with the (included) aluminum mounting bracket. Please note that this camera is NOT waterproof hence I have it mounted below the eaves where it will not get wet. Even though not particularly marketed as an outdoor camera, I am pleased to report it working particularly well in that capacity. The operating temperature is rated only for 14 - 120 degrees so when the bitter winds of winter start to blow I will have to take the camera down for a handful of months :-( As other people have stated, the picture excellent is Ideal (all digital applying Frequency-Hopping Spread Spectrum). The camera will automatically switch to a particularly effective infrared illuminator at dusk and it lights up the entire entry way of my house (about a 30 ft wide swath). The only annoyance is that Uniden didn't feel to put a switch to turn the I/R illuminator OFF which would come in certainly handy if you wanted to mount the camera indoors looking out by way of a pane of glass. In this case the I/R illuminator reflects off the glass promptly in front of the camera rendering the image useless so either program to use this camera OUTDOORS or INDOORS but not INDOORS Looking OUTDOORS. Inside the dwelling the I/R illumination is ridiculously bright and fills the entire room with invisible light which only the camera can choose up. The camera also has the capability to auto-cycle in between up to four cameras at pre-set intervals of time (5/10/15/20 seconds) and has the capacity to watch all four cameras at as soon as in QUAD mode. I have not tried the included Pc software program that records all of this but other users seem to be pleased with this function. The range is fine, it will penetrate my house about 120' but struggles a bit when the signal comes from outdoors to my basement. Each the camera and the monitor use Lithium-Ion batteries so the recharge time is fast and they final for hours (there are included power adaptors for both camera and monitor included). General Uniden did an Fantastic job with this packaged system and I've been fairly happy with it - extremely recommended!
For months we struggled with 2 Babies-R-Us monitors in the $150 price range. We were continually battling interference and long cords as we moved the two (for two babies) monitors from space to room. Then shopping at Sams club this week I saw the Uniden set and decided to give it modify out of frustration with the other set. With the Uniden we only have to have a single monitor and 2 cameras. The monitor is rechargeable so it can go cordless during the day. Interference is a issue of the past now. The monitor lets you scan through up to four cameras at varying intervals or you can put all cameras on the screen at when. You can manully scan in between cameras and even zoom in and stayed zoomed!
Considering that I purchased two systems, I will decide to purchase some far more cameras and use the second monitor for monitoring outdoors. The old infant monitor are going on Craigs List or Ebay as soon as I can get them packaged up.
It is so good to have something work as expected correct out of the package.
6 MONTH UPDATE: So, we've been utilizing this monitor for 6 months now and you know what? WE Nonetheless Really like IT! The monitor is generally keeping track of two 1+ kids for the duration of nap time (roughly four hrs per day) and we drag it all over the house. We also use the monitor when out in the backyard pool and the kid(s) are inside sleeping. The only issue is with heavy use the battery is perfect on the edge of becoming drained at the end of the day. But of course it consists of a rechargeable battery so no problema! I've in no way had any video freezing concerns or audio challenges, absolutely nothing.
